Tory Burch: After years of work in the fashion industry and as a customer, I realized that there was a gap in the market. I wanted to create a collection that was not only beautifully made but also affordable.

We approach every season and category of thought about what women need and what they want. TIS: The Reva has to be one of the most popular accessories for the fashion of the last five years. How many have you sold and why the name of your mother's shoes? What role does your mother on your business and your success?

TB: My mother Reva has been a great influence on my life both personally and professionally. She is always very supportive of me and is a constant source of inspiration in our collections. She has always been my good luck charm, so it's fitting that footwear that bears his name has become a favorite.

TIS: You travel a lot. How often do you travel for business and pleasure? Traveling when we did this interview. How do you pack? Is it a task neither easy to do now?

TB: I've been traveling quite frequently in recent times, most recently the opening of our flagship in Seoul. My children and I are about to go on a trip to Peru, however. I can not wait to spend time together just the four of us.

The packaging is easier when you edit, so I would like to bring elegant pieces that are versatile and easy - things I can layer and wear overnight. No matter where I go, I always bring tailored pants, cardigans, a jacket and printed dresses. They are all pieces that can be used during the day but also evening dress in a bold piece of jewelry or high heels.

TIS: What are the essential pieces for a woman's closet today?

TB: A printed dress, a classic trench, jacket, jeans are the perfect fit for you - and, of course, to complete any look - a bold piece of jewelry as a metal bracelet or necklace statement.

TIS: What do you like to use for the summer?

TB: I like to wear dresses and classic silhouettes monochromatic or mixed with some eclectic mix of prints and colors in an unusual way. Also make sure I have a pair of sunglasses, in the case of an airman or a large part in my bag.


TIS: What are your sources of inspiration in life?

TB: My parents Reva and Buddy are a constant source of inspiration for me. They were an elegant couple with an easy and elegant dress.

In designing a collection, my design team and find inspiration in such different places. Often the reference pictures of my parents to travel in Morocco and Greece in the 60 and 70. We are also influenced by our own travels and everything from art and architecture to music and movies. This fall, for example, we were inspired by Picasso exhibition Musketeers and abstract paintings by Gerhard Richter.

TIS: What were your inspirations for the fall collection? How to fall than the spring and summer for you?

TB: For fall, we thought about that girl that looks cool in the Tory Burch Heel shoes galleries - which has an incredible sense of style and put pieces of new and interesting ways. The color palette is inspired by Picasso exhibition Musketeers and abstract paintings by Gerhard Richter. Neutral colors are played brilliant splash of red and blue. Fall is all about balance of utilitarian advantage with some women, like a rubber layer used with a sequined top.

With each collection, we really try to offer our customers something new - something that will provoke an emotional response and arouse their take home and make it yours. We are our classic pieces like tunics and cardigans, but vary the patterns and colors. Mixed with these are pieces that really speak to the inspiration of the season, whether it is an impression, a particular color or silhouette.

TIS: How much of a collector you are and what if anything is collected? What are your three favorite things about this year? What grabbed your attention or you're eager to read, buy, see or hear, for example?
